Our first event was planned for December 2022. My partner and I had printed out flyers, and snuck them into displays in libraries, shops, cafes and queer spaces to get the word out. A few days before the event was due to take place, all the free tickets had gone and we were gearing up to run it. Then we both tested positive for Covid. So we set a new date for the next month.
Which means that January is our official one year birthday. And we intend to celebrate… together on the 27th January 1.30-4.30pm, and you’re invited. It’s going to be an open and welcoming event.
In the first hour, the organising group will be coming together to share our varied visions of what coparenting means to us, why we got involved in the group, recap what we do as a group and what we hope to achieve. If you are new to the idea of coparenting, or you want to get a better idea of what it could be, don’t miss this! For people who are confident in their decision to co-parent, we’ll also be fielding questions and relaying any questions we’re not equipped to answer to a group of existing queer platonic coparenting families gathering at the same time elsewhere.
And if you’re looking to meet a co-parent yourself/ves, or just explore what coparenting could mean for you, stick around because the rest of the afternoon (2.30-4pm) will be dedicated to that. We’ll create a relaxed atmosphere where you can move between tables to chat with others, and post on our “personals” noticeboard.
