plans for 2026
A calendar of in-person events and online drop-ins
Hello,
There are three big calendar events I want to loop you all in on.
First of all, QPCP has started running an informal 40 minute online drop-in session every Saturday at 10.30am UK time. It’s the same link every time, and for safety, I’m not sharing the link in this newsletter. I post it in our Announcement Whatsapp group just before each meeting, or you can email queerplatoniccoparenting@gmail.com to get the link or the calendar invite (please specify which). We’ve had two sessions so far this year, and it’s been wholesome and cathartic. It’s a place for mutual support where ever you are at in your parenting timeline - deliberating over wanting kids, figuring out how to build your set-up, or already parenting.
The next enormous bit of news is there’s going to be a parenting workshop in London on Tuesday the 10th March at 6pm. All the details are here on the Outsavvy link. It will be led by family law barrister Mai-Ling Savage from 4PB and assisted by colleagues. This event is aimed at LGBTQIA+ people who are thinking about parenting frameworks and conception, particularly non-normative ones such as platonic co-parenting, “known donors” and multi-parent families. We’ll discuss the needs, rights and responsibilities of prospective queer parents and help us bridge the gap between day-dreaming and concrete details. Similar to our online drop-ins, it is open to all queer people, regardless of where you are at in your parenting decision-making and journey. We will be sending a form to participants ahead of the event so make sure to sign up to the Outsavvy to get access. This event is in collaboration with The Amniotic Archives and hosted at QueerCircle. There is limited capacity at this event, so please let us know if you got a ticket but cannot make it.
Thirdly, I’m working towards a big platonic co-parenting speed-meeting event on the 10th May. It will be at an incredible venue in West London in the afternoon. If you’d like to contribute towards organising the event with either your time or your expertise, please email queerplatoniccoparenting@gmail.com. We especially need people to help figure out how to do the match-making process and to help promote the event, but all volunteer hands are very, very welcome. The last match-making event, I did all the matching manually myself and it was very time-consuming.
Groups in Glasgow and Brighton are also providing lots of infrastructure so be sure to get in touch with them about meet-ups.
Thanks very much,
Leo
